A right time or two I had seen bear down by the Rio Grande. I don’t figure on how they got to be there as this is not their territory. The desert is North above, vast without the berries and climate that they depend. And besides, the camels are known to eat whatever they might want anyhows.
My party was four men and several dogs, all of them were friends as much as they were security. The ability of a dog to keep watch is as good as a deer or a horse, and the dogs’ presence is less likely to arouse suspicion.
