joseph maria – O the pity

leave a comment »

night crickets lye bored in the
grass by the walkway into the building

I strutted strong up the avenue
with the heavy bars of the pure gold
in my pockets

up the sidewalk

the steps

through the front door

to the room where the men met

and displayed my gold
and unimpressed they said
thanks for your time
